The product does what it says. I found it easy to install. ( took longer to get the old steering system out). It does require more turns lock to lock almost 5. Allot of turning when docking so a steering knob was added to the wheel. The steering is very tight now and easy to make course adjustments under way even in some tight chop. No more white knuckle and over gripping the wheel. For the price of this I would say anyone looking to get NFB, and does not have the $$ for hydrolic, got for it. It is well worth it! Even my wife who would never drive my boat due to the steering pulling took the helm and drove it like a pro!.

What is the extra cable coming out of the steering block that looks about 12" long?
A:
This is how the cable installs into the helm. It goes through one end and comes out the other. The longer portion you see in the representative photos is the rest of the cable that goes back to your motor.
