the kit performs fine, however the stainless wear plate is .015 thinner than the fatory plate

Which impelller kit do i need for a 1966 40hp super sea horse?

Sierra does not make an impeller kit for your motor. You need to get OEM numbers which are 0777213 and 0312613.
