This does not come with any wiring or hookups.

Will this tach work on a 40hp 2 stroke engine?

Yes it will, but if you have a Mariner 40 HP it requires a module.

Will it work on a 76 Johnson 75 hp?

Yes it is universal in its design. It works with all outboards.
