Will This work on a 1986 Stratos 179V? Is the helm a direct bolt in replacement?

We don't have the original information as to match up with your boat. The helm is a universal design that will install into any boat. We cannot confirm if you had the rotary or rack and pinion though and the length you require. You will need to get that information. You can measure old cable and just measure black coating and add 30" for rack and pinion and 18" for rotary.
