TrollMaster Mercury 8 & 9.9 Tiller ('05 - Present)

Just like everyone says, the instructions that come with the unit are just plain confusing. There is a good video on you tube putting one of these on a small evinrude and that is the one that I followed for my 8hp merc tiller 2007 model. The only problem I had was that the loop end in the new throttle linkage from the vendor was 1/16" bigger (a bigger loop) as compared to my original/merc throttle linkage that you have to take off. The length of the rod was good, but the loop was bigger so the linkage would just fall off of the post. I called the vendor and we agreed that I would just put the linkage in my bench vice and squeeze down the loop end. I did that, and also bent the tip inward slightly on the loop end so it would not bang into my housing on the motor when using. So anyway with some modifications to the throttle linkage, all is now well. The one thing I would like to see on these is the option to get quick connects for both the pos/neg battery hookups as well as the wire that goes to the servo. I do not leave my 8hp on my boat all the time (only when I plan to troll), so quick connects for both would be great. Other than that, the unit is working just fine. Looks relatively simple to adjust and fix in the future too.

I received the product in a timely manner. The installation was very straight forward and simple. It functions as advertized. It makes trolling so much easier. No more hollering at my partner to speed up or slow down. Just turn the knob and it is a done deal. It is also alot safer than leaning over the transom to adjust the throttle. Thanks Panther
