Mallory Ignition Coil 9-23200

Iboat did credit my account for the one defective coil. Took a while, but in the end they did come through.

Ordered and received 6 of these coils for my 1993 Mercury 150HP outboard to replace all the original coils as preventative maintenance. Installation was fairly straight forward with no problems. I started the engine up and noticed it was running rough/missing...one of the coils was not producing spark. I replaced that Mallory coil with one of the original Mercury coils and it ran fine. Frankly I'm surprised, having relied on Mallory ignition products since the 70's. I was pleased to see that these coils are manufactured in Germany, but am a bit disappointed in their quality control. It's been a month since I returned the defective coil to iboat...still waiting for a refund. According to iboat, it must be shipped back to the manufacturer for testing, prior to credit being issued.
