Hourmeter, Rectangular - SeaStar Solutions

Easy to install. Bought to track hours on new engine.

I wanted an hour meter that would be easy to install. Fashioned an L - bracket out of metal and installed in out of the way location. Used stainless steel machine screws and nuts. Connected + terminal which has spade connector to ignition wire so that it would only be activated when motor is running, and - spade terminal to fuse block ground. Easy project and works great. I thought it would be easier to cut out an oblong section of the fashioned bracket rather than a round one. Would recommend.

I received the hourmeter and hooked it up directly to a 12 volt battery as the instructions indicated (paying close attention to the polarity) in order to test. The unit did absolutely nothing. No clicks, did not advance the hours by even one second. I then called the manufacturer and was told to return the unit to the seller. The representative I spoke with did not seem surprised that the unit was defective. I threw it away and ordered a Faria houmeter. They guarantee their products.

I got the square version and it worked without issue. I felt the install instructions were easy and provided more than one way to install it. I'd recommend this.

The meter is a good size and easy to read. The instruction sheet was not so great mostly diagrams with minimal writing. Good thing the installation was easy to figure out without detailed clear instructions. Would recommend this meter for the price.

I just installed the rectangular hourmeter without a hitch and it works perfectly. I would definately recommend it to who ever needs help keeping up with service intervals.
